Ingredients

  • 2 apples golden delicious, pink lady or granny smith
  • 200 g flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 120 ml milk
  • 8 g baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • icing sugar
  • cold water
  • 1/2 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  • Slice the apples into even thin slices. Roughly 12 slices per apple. Core the middle to have a uniform centre and remove the seeds and tough centre. Place the sliced apples in a bowl with cold water and a tablespoon of lemon juice.
  • In a large bowl mix together the eggs, sugar, cinnamon and salt. Mix in the flour. Once you get a thick paste, gently start adding in the milk until you get a sticky yet slightly loose batter.
  • Fill a large pot with vegetable oil, and heat the oil to about 170°C.
  • Tap dry the apple slices with paper towels and dip into the batter. Remove any excess batter and slowly lower into the heated oil.
  • Cook the fritters for about 3 minutes, flipping them half way through.
  • Drain the fritters from excess oil on some paper towels. Serve immediately with a generous sprinkle of icing sugar on top. Enjoy!
